Overview:
The brief was simple to state and hard to deliver: fit a pool, dry sauna, steam room, and bathroom into a footprint that didn't want to hold them all. The real challenge wasn't fitting the program — it was making a compressed space feel generous, warm, and alive instead of cramped and utilitarian.
Design Approach:
Every surface in this project does more than one job. Vertical stone strips and warm linear lighting stretch the corridor visually, making the approach to the pool feel longer and more considered than its actual dimensions allow. Layered materials — stone, wood, and dark tile — break the small volume into a sequence of moments rather than one compressed box.
The pool sits directly beside the living room, separated only by frosted glass. This isn't just a spatial decision — it's an atmospheric one. Light bouncing off the water's surface filters softly into the lounge throughout the day, so the sense of water and calm reaches spaces that never touch the pool itself.
Materiality:
Deep green mosaic tile lines the pool, grounding the space in a color that reads as natural rather than clinical. Warm wood paneling and light stone alternate along the walls, giving the eye texture to move across even in a tight corridor — a deliberate choice to keep a small space from feeling monotonous.
